The electric car may be coming to Benicia.
Coda Automotive, based in Southern California, may soon start assembling in Benicia a plug-in sedan that the company plans to start selling this year. Coda is negotiating with Amports, which runs an auto-processing plant there, to do the work.
Coda would join Northern California’s small but growing cadre of companies that make electric vehicles or their components - companies such as Tesla Motors in Palo Alto, Zap in Santa Rosa and Electric Vehicles International in Stockton. Benicia officials couldn’t be happier, assuming the deal goes through.

why not focus on our island economy here on Maui.
We all drive less than 40 miles daily and plenty of
tourists to drive enterprise cars and sunshine to power
stations located at airport and hotels
ps. we have electric on our roof top here in Haiku and
could be a possible endorsement as a Maui resident.

I wanted to look into to possibility of purchasing Coda and am pleased to see the possibility of the Coda being assembled in my Benicia community. We’d love to be greener.

Hi Ruth,
A hybrid vehicle recharges the battery via the gasoline motor. A plug-in hybrid charges the battery via a gasoline motor or by plugging it into a power outlet. An all-electric car like the CODA charges the battery only by plugging it in. The CODA has no gas tank at all.
